This is a blog that features the movements of eagles reared in Scotland and fitted with satellite-received transmitters. This effort to better understand eagle dispersal is being undertaken by Natural Research and its partners: the Highland Foundation for Wildlife, the RSPB, SNH and the Scottish Raptor Study Groups. Eagles have been tracked since fledging and data from them will form part of a Natural Research funded PhD by Ewan Weston at Aberdeen University.

IF YOU CLICK ON THE MAPS THEY WILL OPEN IN ANOTHER WINDOW AND WILL BE MUCH CLEARER.

57115: 5-19 Sep 2011

The satellite tagging of this eagle over the past two weeks has shown frequent short flights. Flights tend to be about 5 miles in length with the occasional one a little longer.

57109: 10-18 Sep 2011

This eagle has remained in a very simular place to other previous weeks with only one ranging movement in a south-westerly direction, then back again into the same area.

57115: The last locations we have for this eagle show it moving south again. As the crow flys this is a journey of about 24 miles, we will have to see if the next map shows anymore movement in a southerly direction.

57109: All of the flightlines of this eagle have stayed within a small area over the past two weeks. We have had good locations and many fligthlines within this period.
