Golden Eagle tracking

This is a blog that features the movements of eagles reared in Scotland and fitted with satellite-received transmitters. This effort to better understand eagle dispersal is being undertaken by Natural Research and its partners: the Highland Foundation for Wildlife, the RSPB, SNH and the Scottish Raptor Study Groups. Eagles have been tracked since fledging and data from them will form part of a Natural Research funded PhD by Ewan Weston at Aberdeen University.

This eagle has made no large movement over the past 2 weeks much the same as 57109.

57109: 9-25 July 2011

There has been no large ranging movements from this eagle in the past two weeks. The eagle has stayed in the same area.

57115: 5-15 July 2011

This bird has moved slightly further south in recent weeks but with more ranging movements.

57109: 5-15 July 2011

This eagle has moved further north and east in recent weeks. In comparison to the last time the eagle was viewed it is moving in a more confined area.

This bird has moved down to the south-eastern Cairngorms where it was located a couple of weeks ago. (57115)

This eagle has remained in the same area for the last few weeks now, making many short flights within a relatively confined area. (57109)

This young eagle has remained in the eastern Highlands; after making the journey northwards only the other week the bird has headed south again (57115).
